Waka ( Step it up )

Task Description: This afternoon I was having to finish off the waka step it up task. For this task we had to create a waka using paper or popsicle sticks. What I chose to use was paper to create my waka. The steps said that when you make your waka you would have to add some things like a sail or a deck from the kick start. On my waka I added maori patterns and a sail. I tried to create paddles but it kept on coming off my waka. I hope that you all enjoy checking out my paper waka. Remember to leave a positive comment on my blog, thank you.

  1. Kia ora Catherine,

It’s Charlotte again, a blog commenter for the Summer Learning Journey. Fantastic job on this activity! How do you find it?

I would’ve loved to see a tutorial on how you made this waka because it looks great! Making a paper waka reminds me of making paper planes! Have you made a paper plane before? I used to have competitions with my brother to see who could make the plane fly the furthest

I can see that you have included a few designs onto your waka. Was there a reason you chose those specific designs? The designs on a waka usually represent stories or have specific meanings. What do you think your waka designs represent?
