Extension Drones) 2023

This term in extension we have been learning all about drones. In extension we had to create two projects of us defining our problem and thinking of a way to fix it by trying to ideate. Before I had to create my project I had to think of a problem that drones can help with. My problem that I had to fix was that a hospitable worker has to send medicine to their patience even if they’re tired or if they’re just too lazy to do it. To help me identify this problem, I was wanting Eve to help because we were both thought about the same idea. How we identified this problem was by using drones to send medicine to their patients so that they don’t need to waste there time getting up and sending medicine.

After we finished defining and ideating our problem we had to get into scratch and start turning our problem into  a scratch project showing us how we want to look like. In this project we had to create our problem coming to life so that Mrs Burton (our Extension teacher) can see our problem we chose so that she can mark our rubric and we can get 20 out of 20. My favourite thing about this scratch project was when I got to code, because in term 1 I was really bad at coding. Now i’m very good at coding like look at my project I did. If  you all are wondering what scratch is, scratch is an online app where you can create games or cool projects at your school like me.

For my final extension project what I had to do was a design on tinkercad or photopea of what my scratch project looked like.  My choice was tinkercad because it would be faster to do and it would be easier to do. In tinkercad I had to design a drone that had some medicine on top of it that was going to be sent to a hospital patient. As I was doing this project I thought that it was really easy to do because I just had to search up what I needed. Then I had to just drag it in then size what I wanted it to look, then there you go here’s how it turned out. The only thing I needed to hold my medcine was a contaner that was screwed into the drone. Remember to leave a positive comment on my blog, thank you.

Creative space project) Team 4 outdoor area 2023

Task Description: This term in creative space we have been designing our team four outdoor area. In team four we have been thinking of what things we needed in our outdoors like picnic tables and benches even other things you can think of. For this scratch project I had to think of one thing that we needed for our team four outdoor area. My object I chose for our outdoor area was a picnic table because I think that sometimes when team four needs somewhere to eat, sit, talk, work, and even to just have a rest we can have that by having picnic tables. To show this I created a scratch project showing what my picnic table will need and what was my problem to help ideate it. While doing this project I thought that it was really cool because I got to code all by myself  and it was also really easy to code and do. I hope you all like my creative space scratch project. Dear Sophia

Or Malo e lelei it’s me Catherine I was just wanting to say a massive thank you to you for being the best swimming coach ever. I also wanted to say thank you for teaching me and my group how to float on our backs and on our stomach. The only hard thing for me was to try to swim without touching the floor, but as you taught me I got better and better even though I couldn’t hold it for at least one to two minutes without dying with no breath.

My highlight at swimming lessons was learning how to swim all the way to the end without touching the floor which was really easy to do. The other highlight I loved was swimming under the water to get the little stick man and getting back out of the water. The only thing I didn’t like was the boys not listening to you Sophia, I am very sorry for that. I hope you have a lovely day Sophia and God Bless YOU. 🙂

sincerely,

Catherine

Manaiakalani Film Festival Blog Commenting

Task description: This week was the annual Maniakalani Film Festival! We were lucky enough to see our classes movie on the big screen at Hoyts. This week for our writing task we were able to watch some of the Manaiakalani Film Festival movies and create positive, thoughtful and helpful comments on the class blog of the movies. Here are some of the movies I watched and some of the comment that I left on some of the class blogs. Please leave a positive comment on my blog!

Five Facts)Tokelau Language Week

Task Description: This week in room 10 we have been learning all about Tokelau language week. For this task we had to first watch a video that had interesting facts in it. Then we had to start trying to find some facts to add into our five facts. After that we had to re read our facts to see if we left any mistakes. Finally we had to send Miss Parrant our task so that she can see if we copied anyone or copied from her. Remember to leave a positive comment on my blog, thank you.

Recount: Marshmallow Challenge

Task description: This week we have been learning to create a recount adding lots of descriptive language. We had a fun activity to complete called the marshmallow challenge. After completing the challenge we had to write a recount about our experience, check out my recount below. Please leave a positive comment on my blog.

This week in room 10 we were planning to create a fun marshmallow challenge. For this class on air Miss Parrant wanted us to have a fun activity to work as a team. This is  for our make it work term 4 focus question for this term. In this activity we had to get into a group of how many we wanted, but my group was from other tables but we still thought that we were still work as a team. Here are there names were Maddison, Sophia, Alepina, Emzjull, and me.

Before we started Miss Parrant had to quickly present what items we needed, we had ten marshmallows with 20 spaghetti sticks. Then we had to start figuring out what our design should be. At this point my whole group started saying random ideas that popped out of their head, but the thing was we had to think of a way for our marshmallow to stay standing like a normal tower. While we were thinking of what design we should do Emzjull’s suggested was to break the spaghetti into little pieces as well as the marshmallows and build them into a tower getting bigger and BIGGER.

When we were trying to figure out what our idea should be Maddison and I thought if we could create a tower by using the spaghetti sticks and marshmallows not broken and then we had to create the tower going like one spaghetti stick had 2 marshmallows stuck onto it and do the same on another stick. After that we wanted to add two sticks onto the top of the two sticks on the bottom and just keep on going until the tower will get taller and TALLER.

We all decided to go with Emzjull’s idea in the end and broke up all the sticks and marshmallows. Our tower did get to stand for a little while but as we waited for the timer to countdown our tower kept falling apart. Once our 15 minutes were up we kind of had a tower but we had to hold it so it would stand.

This was a really fun activity that helped us to work as a team. I hope we can do more experiences like this for our term 4 focus make it work.

Ofa Lahi Atu) Red Bands

Task Description: This week for reading in red bands we read a book called Ofa Lahi Atu. For this task I and my reading group had to read our book first. Then we had to start doing our reading task. In this task we had to first  find our favourite sentence that was in this book and my sentence was ”Latu is practising for the school speech competition” – Jam Board Here. After that we had to go onto photo pea and draw what our sentence explains but I drew an image of Latu that was in the story. Finally I had to record myself reading this book to you all and you could actually see it on my task. Remember to leave a positive comment on my blog, thank you.

Research Presentation) Niue Language Week

Task Description: This week in room 10 we have been learning all about Niuean language week. For this task we had to do a task called research presentation which explains what Niue is and what Niue is. The first thing we had to do before this task was read an article that our teacher miss Parrant wrote for us. Then we had to start answering some questions that were on this task. In this task we actually had to write our answers down like sentences and paragraphs. My favourite part about this task was everything because I liked answering all of those interesting and fun questions. Remember to leave a positive comment on my blog, thank you.

Five Facts

Task Description: This week in room 10 we have been learning all about Niue. For this task we had to watch a video explaining interesting facts about Niue. Then we had to start finding facts to put into our five facts. Then we had to start seeing if our facts were good enough for our blog post. Remember to leave a positive comment on my blog, thank you.

Gold Math Revision

Task Description: This week for maths we have been doing gold maths revision. For this task we have been learning how to do fractions, decimals, geometry, measurements,Number patterns,Data & Statistics, and word problems. When I was doing this task my favourite page was page 5 and 8, because I knew that Fran was very good at and not so god at things and page 5 was easy because I love shapes and I know what kind of shapes it is and it’s not.
