Autumn Learning Journey) Activity five

Task Description: This morning at around 10 o’clock I was wanting to do an activity for today and I chose activity five. For activity five we had to just go onto Google earth to find out the Anzac journey, and if you needed help then you could just use one that Miss Parrant knew. Like the one I did it was called the maori Battalion. When I searched it up on google earth it came up with this image and I found it on 138 Cuba Street. Remember to leave a positive comment on my blog, thank you.

Autumn Learning Journey) Activity seventeen

Task Description: Ok for this task I had to go on an app called pixels and it was kind of  like photopea but it was really different than you think it was. To do this task I had to draw a poppy for anzac day, which is about to come up in a few days. My favorite part about this was how the poppy turned out and how it looked at the end and I really hope that you all like it as well. Remember to leave a positive comment on my blog, thank you.

Response to text) Dawn parade

Task Description:  This week for response to text we had to read a book called dawn parade. In this book it explains that we have to thank all of the people who took part in the war and we have to always show respect to them for doing that. In this task after reading the story you would have to then answer a lot of questions that your teacher has given to you like my teacher. If you are wondering if this task was easy for me it was quite easy because I had to just answer them. Remember to leave a positive comment on my blog, thank you.

Dawn Parade: Response to Text
Read “Dawn Parade” by Philippa Werry and answer these questions:
How does the fact that the story begins when it’s “very dark” and the house is “quiet” contribute to the overall mood?
a) It creates a feeling of excitement and anticipation.
b) It establishes a sense of peace and tranquillity.
c) It sets a sombre and respectful tone.
d) It makes the story feel suspenseful and mysterious.

Why does Leo ask his dad if it’s far from the war memorial?
I think that the reason why is because he was really tired and because it was also dark and that’s scary walking in the dark alone.

3. How does the text describe the people waiting at the war memorial?
a) They are cheering and talking loudly.
b) They are impatient and restless.
c) They are silent and respectful.
d) They are singing songs together.

What does the woman with the gold chain do at the ceremony?
a) She reads a poem.
b) She gives a speech.
c) She plays a bugle.
d) She lays a wreath of flowers.

Why do people sing the national anthem at the end of the dawn parade?
I feel like the reason why is because they want to show respect and they also want to say thank you.

What is the significance of the poppies placed at the memorial?
a) They are a symbol of victory and celebration.
b) They represent hope for a peaceful future.
c) They honour the people who died in wars.
d) They are just a decorative flower.

Why does Leo say he hopes “no one else dies in wars”?
He says that because he feels bad for those who died in the war, and he also doesn’t want that to happen to anyone.

What does the rising sun at the end of the story symbolise?
It symbolises the whole book because it says dawn parade and I also think that because the book starts in the night and ends in the morning.

Besides the information in the story, what can you infer about Dad’s character?
He always wants to go to the dawn parade to say thank you to all of the people who took part in the war.

Why do you think dawn parades are important?
I think dawn parades are important because we need to thank those who died in the war just for us.
