Alphabetical Countries

Task Description: This week in room 10 we have also been learning how to put alphabetical words in order just like this. For this task I had to read some of these countries and then had to put them in alphabetical orders just like mine. While I was doing this task I was also remembering my ABC check it out. Scientific Method

Scientific Method

WALT: safely conduct an experiment and explain the process and results using the scientific method.
This week we are going to conduct a science experiment using the scientific method to write up the results.  Use the class brainstorm from the jam board if you need extra help.

Question
What are you trying to find out?
Will it dissolve in water? 
Hypothesis
What do you think will happen?
  • Salt: yes
  • Pepper: no 
  • Sugar:  yes
  • Oil: no
  • Oats: no
  • Sprinkles: no 

I think that the salt and sugar will dissolve in water. I think that pepper, oil, oats and sprinkles will not dissolve in water. 
Materials
What will you need to do the experiment?
You will need:

  • Six cups
  • A pen or pencil
  • Sprinkles
  • Oats
  • Sugar
  • Pepper
  • Water
  • Salt
  • Measuring cups
  • Paper
Procedure
What steps will you take to do the experiment?
1.  Put six cups onto the table.

2. Label the six cups with pen/pencils, with what you will be adding to each cup.  

3. Add a spoon full of each ingredient into your one of your six labelled cups. (Repeat this for all six of the cups). 

4. Add half a cup of water into one of your cups.  Repeat this for all six of the cups. 

5. You then would have to use your spoon to mix the water and other material in the cup. 

6. Watch and see your results

Conclusion What did you find out? Was your prediction correct?
Yes my prediction was correct, I thought that the salt and sugar would dissolve in the water. I thought that the oil, oats, pepper and sprinkles would not dissolve in the water. What we found interesting was the sprinkles, the colour of the sprinkles dissolved but the sprinkles themselves did not. The water changed a dark colour with all of the colours merging together and we were left with white sprinkles at the bottom of the cup.

Measurement

Task Description: This term or maybe this week room 10 have been learning all about measurement. For today’s task I had to measure things that are, cm,mm,km,kg,g. While I was doing this task I was thinking that I was not going to get any questions right but I feel like I maybe did get some right. Remember to leave a positive comment on my blog, thank you. 

Spelling

Task Description: This week for my writing group these are my spelling words. For todays task I had to write my answer into my task. When I was doing this task I was feeling very nevus because while I was trying to remember my new words for the week I was feeling also a bit afraid because I was thinking that I was not going to be knowing all of the words but I did remember some. Four facts/ Solid

Task Description: This week in room 10 we have been learning all about solid. For todays task I had to write four interesting facts all about solid. While I was doing this task I was feeling very happy doing this task because it was a bit hard to figure out but it was a bit easy doing it. Remember to leave a positive comment on my blog, thank you. 

Recount Immersion assembly

One cloudy Wednesday morning all of the Pt  England students and teachers gathered all together in the school hall. When we were sitting on the floor we had to wait for Mrs. Nua and Mr Somerville, because we had to start our immersion assembly. If you all are asking why we have an immersion assembly it’s because Pt England school has a special assembly every single term. 

This term Pt England school are going to be learning all about changes matter. For our first item was team one, for there item team one presented that they would be learning all about cooking and if it’s solid and liquid also gas. While I was watching their video I just noticed that they were making jelly which was solid and their hot chocolate which was liquid. Then when I was watching their video I realized that different things could be solid liquid and maybe gas. 

For our next item was the team of two teachers. For the team two item they were singing a song all about solid liquid and gas. While they were singing they were also showing things that are solid liquid and gas. For example solid is a toy and table and liquid is water and milk and also gas is your oxygen and fart. 

For our next item was the team 3 teachers. for their item they were showing us very amazing experiments of what they are going to be learning all about this term. While I was watching their item my favorite experiment is when Miss Scanlan made elephant tooth past. When they were doing all of their very interesting experiments I was thinking that I could do all of that but at home, because it looked very fun to do.   

For our final last item was the team 5 teachers. For their item the team 5 teachers were holding up three sighs that said solid liquid and gas. While I was watching their item I realized that one of the teachers were holding ice for solid and the other teacher was holding a water bottle for liquid and also another teacher was spaying a nice spray to show you that it’s gas.

Not to lie but at the end I was feeling very exited for this term learning all about those interesting things this term. 

 

 

Number of the week

Task Description: This week in room 10 we have been doing number of the week and that means today my number is 357. For todays task I had to answer very interesting question’s all about my number, for example what is 35+100=and we all already know that answer it is 457. While I was doing this task I was feeling very Novus while doing this task because I was thinking that it was going to be very until it was not that bad. Task Description: This term at Pt England we have been learning all about solids, liquids, and gases. For todays task I had to do a experiment all about gas.
